So as you may have noticed, it's pretty late for someone who likes to go to bed before 10 p.m. to be posting on their blog...but I can't sleep. Somewhere between thinking about my day, listening to the fireworks go off, and trying to figure out where this darn cat is living, I decided it might help me sleep to put my thoughts down on some theoretical paper. Today started out to be a semi-crummy Monday and just went downhill from there. Travis had to leave for work early, I've been feeling terrible (I have no voice and a wicked cough) and yet, somehow, Zane and I were going to get through it. Then we realized our fridge was broken and everything was on the verge of spoiling. We called for reinforcements and salvaged a lot of the food, however, I did not get any of the much needed rest I was planning on. Sometime after the fridge fiasco, I discovered we have a new boarder in our garage, a black cat. I don't want it around and the meowing is driving me nuts! And as I lay in bed tonight thinking about the pile of a day I've had I realized...it was pretty great. Not only was every family member ready to rush to my side to help with the food or give me a break so I could get some rest, so were our friends. Ike and Kristy went to the store, who knows how many times, to get some ice and coolers and even helped clean out the fridge (and I am certain they had much better things to do today, like work for instance). And on top of all the people who were willing to take care of us, I got to thinking about what a luxury it is to have a fridge at all (and it makes me sick to think about all the food we had to throw away). it made me think about the recent news story I was told about, where mothers in africa would walk miles to wait in a terrible line just to get some peanut butter like substance to feed their children in hopes of avoiding starvation for one more day. All I have to do is walk to the fridge (or cooler) and get out some fresh 'nutritious' food and give Zane breakfast, lunch or dinner. I feel like I could go on and on but it just proves to me that sometimes the very worst days can turn out to be the best.

Zane and Maggie
We finally had to move Maggie's food outside so that Zane wouldn't be able to play in the water. Now whenever Mags goes out to eat Zane pounds on the window and stares at her. I really don't know what more to say about it, but I just think it's funny that he spends a good part of his day looking at her food through the window.

A Day at the Pool
Last weekend we took Zane up north to go swimming with Heidi and the girls. He had so much fun. He loved the floaty that we brought but his favorite were these bouncers. He ran in circles forever and splashed in the shallow water. We had so much fun with the girls too! They are so good to their cousin Zane and are always willing to help with his toys or let us know when he is sad. They had a blast with Travis on the big slide. All in all, it was a GREAT day!

Weekend in Moab (by Travis)

We spent the weekend in Moab with the Hopkins Family. We split our time between Arches, Shopping in Moab, and our condo.
Friday morning we hiked to Delicate Arch. Zane was great he made all kinds of sounds all the way there. He ate lunch then...
...slept half the way back.
Marcie took us to the "Indian Ladder" south of town. There were some cool Petroglyphs here and some tight spots getting to the top.

We went to Sand Dune Arch which I have never been to, it was way cool. Sand everywhere and shaded areas for Zane play.
