A Day at the Zoo

So Zane made some new friends today. We went to the Zoo with Hailey and her two boys Cooper and Preston. They were so cute with him. Most of the time was spent napping in the stroller but we had a few fun moments like this one outside the gorilla's pen.

We also rode the train! He seemed to like that a lot (sorry about the self-take angle). On the way home we got a little cranky and Cooper helped me by giving him cheerios. Thanks for the fun day guys.

My Own Kiddie Kandids

So I decided that it was about time to have some nice pictures of Zane, however, we don't have the money to pay for them.  It turns out my mom and dad have the perfect spot in the "new room" that has great lighting.  I think they turned out pretty cute.  He sure is a looker.

A Little Something About Me

Well, maybe it's time to finally post a little something about me since I mostly share pics and info about what our lives revolve around (Zane, of course). I was tagged by Hollie to share six things about myself...that's a pretty tall order considering I have to magically come up with this list all on my own (I should follow this with an apology to Heidi as I never got around to posting the ABC's of me, but I'll really try to get to that later).

1. I really love it when my life is going in a million different directions. The stress of it all is kind of exhilarating (yes, even when I complain about it to my family). Right now with work, Zane, and my church calling I feel like I have 101 things on my plate. Unfortunately, I have a disease that only makes this worse...I always like to make things a big deal. If I'm involved in something I want to be the biggest most comprehensive something that ever existed. I don't know if I have always been this way or not but I feel like I can blame some of it on my super cool sister-in-law Heidi. She does everything so fantastic that I just always want to be able to keep up.

2. I love to win! It's all super secret though. I don't compete to win unless I'm sure I'll come out on top. If I'm at a red light in my 10 yr old Altima with another car then I'm going to race them off the line but only if the driver is lame or the car can't possibly be as fast as mine. Oddly, every year there are less and less people I am capable of beating. However, when we play games with a big group I just don't want to lose. It's not about being in first place in that situation, it's just about not being last.

3. I can't miss out on anything. It's definitely a disease. I don't want to go to sleep at night unless I know everyone else is already in bed. Weird, I know. I can trace it to an incident at Lake Powell as a child but I won't get in to that here.

4. Like Hollie, I love lists. And no one else can write on them. The list must remain in the same ink and handwriting. Once Travis added a few items to my grocery list and it made me crazy. What's better is that the items were already on the list. Now he just pretends to do it because he knows it makes me crazy.

5. I love my glass of water at night. When I was pregnant I would always be so thirsty so Travis would have a giant glass of water (with a straw) next to the bed so I wouldn't have to come downstairs every night. And the best part, he still does it...it might be my favorite thing ever.

6. It's pretty obvious, but I love to travel. There is just something so completely amazing about discovering another culture, history, and place. Not to mention, when I'm on vacation I get to spend so much time with the ones I love. There is just nothing better.

While I Was Gone

Well, it looks like the boys survived while I was gone. Did I actually expect anything different? I had to go to a conference in San Diego for 4 nights and it was the first time I have left Zane. I had a good time but I really missed my cute guys. It sounds like they had fun too. Boy it's nice to be home...and sleeping in a new bed. Most people miss their bed when they are gone but it was the last thing I was going to miss. Our new comfy bed was finally delivered on Thursday however and it's huge (a whopping 38 inches off the floor)! Looks like we need a new bed frame.
